My Story

This goes back to I think 1997 when the Town of Cary, NC or the North Carolina DOT,  I think they have not decided or won't say who was in charge then. They put down an inch of asphalt on the street and did not raise the driveway connection we had a big rainfall the water would travel down the hill toward my house and then before it got to my driveway, the street is lower on my side of the street and would go over the driveway connection and down my drive way into my laundry room and my utility room. When the house was built both the laundry room and the utility room were built on the carport floor. The laundry room floor has a built up lip behind the washer and dryer but the utility room floor does not.

I would call the Town of Cary and tell them that the water was coming into my laundry room and utility room and they would say "We will take care of it." In my opinion their way of taking care of it, was to just hang up the phone because I never had anyone from the town to come out about the problem every time we had a big storm or just a heavy rain.

This went on for a few years calling the town when we had a big rain and putting down my rags that I had acquired to soak up the water and put a big fan blowing in the door to help dry the floor. When the water was soaked up I would take my rags up, wash and dry them and put them back in my rag bag for the next time. I got tired of call and sending letters and getting nothing done so I stopped calling.

In I think it was 2006, the Town Engineer came by to get me to sign the papers for the Town to widen the street and I told them that there would be a water problem and the reply was "we will take care of any water problem." Before the project was started that Engineer left the Town of Cary and his replacement came by to get me to sign another set of papers, I told him that I had already done that with the other Engineer, he told me that he was no longer there so he need to get another set of papers signed. Neither one of the Engineers told me that they were going to build the road up about 6 feet above what it was. I told my neighbor that Tom Ellis the Engineer, had been by to get me to sign another set of papers because the other Engineer was gone. She told me that she didn't have to sign any more papers. From that I take it that they had changed what they were going to do and have to have another set of paper but he did not leave me a set of those papers.

I am still getting water and in my Utility room land Laundry room and sometimes mud and there is about two feet of water under my house that had washed about two inches of the siding where the water is coming under my carport and going under my house and there is about two feet of water in crawl space.
